ABOUT GLSA

Gorton Lake Shores Association was established in 1956. GLSA is Homeowner's Association in the town of East Lyme, CT. Properties within Gorton Lake Shores Association rely on the town of East Lyme for maintaining our infrastructure (roads, sewer, etc.) and GLSA maintains and insures our lake front park. Properties within GLSA include: Anchorage Road, Beverly Road, Brookline Road, Crystal Spring Drive, Cubles Drive, Echo Road, Forest Road, Foxcroft Road, Knollwood Road, North Beechwood Road, Sycamore Road, Woodland Road, and 17-73 Riverview (odd number lots only). Our annual dues for 2022 are currently a fixed rate of $75 per property. These dues are MANDATORY regardless of use of the park. It is important for all members within GLSA to pay dues in order to afford taxes, insurance, maintenance, and repairs to our property.

Dues can be mailed to: GLSA, 20 Cubles Dr, Niantic, CT 06357.

PARK- FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the park rules & regulations.

WHO CAN USE THE PARK?

Park passes can be provided to members of GLSA who are current with their annual dues. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Guests visiting from outside of GLSA must be accompanied by a member. No entry after dark.

IS SWIMMING ALLOWED?

Yes! Many members enjoy swimming in our lake. Members can swim from our beach area. Swim at your own risk- there are no lifeguards at any time! CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT.

Ledge Light Health District regularly tests the water for bacteria levels. If the water is deemed unsafe it will be posted on this page as well as our Facebook page.

IS FISHING ALLOWED?

Yes! Fishing is allowed from the dock. PLEASE DO NOT FISH FROM THE BEACH AREA. Be mindful not to leave behind any fishing line or hooks. Consult the CT DEEP for fishing license requirements in the State of Connecticut.

CAN VEHICLES DRIVE INTO THE PARK?

Motorized vehicles of any kind are not allowed inside the park. This includes personal cars & trucks, ATVs, and tractors. Driving motorized vehicles into the park damages the grass and is also a safety hazard. Vehicles can be parked on the side of the road in front of the park.

CAN THE PARK BE RESERVED FOR PRIVATE EVENTS?

Yes! Members who are current with their dues may reserve the park for private events at no cost. A request to GLSA must be approved to secure a date/time. Private events must not exceed 6 hours and each household within GLSA may reserve the park up to two times per year. Please be sure to return the park to the same or better condition than you found it in after your private event!

ARE PETS ALLOWED AT THE PARK?

Yes! Pets are allowed at the park but must be leashed. Please only bring pets that are social and non aggressive to the park. You are responsible for picking up after your pet. You are liable if your pet causes harm to another person or pet.

IS ALCOHOL ALLOWED AT THE PARK?

Alcohol is not permitted at the park.

CAN I STORE MY KAYAK/ SMALL BOAT AT THE PARK?

Unfortunately, we can no longer allow boats to be stored at the park. Our boat rack is in disrepair and the current budget does not allow for the boat rack to be repaired or replaced. We hope in the future to have the funds to add another boat rack and offer this amenity to our members once again.

ARE THERE TRASH RECEPTACLES?

There is a trash bin and a recycling bin at the park. Please be sure to dispose of your trash and recyclables properly and leave the park a clean environment for other members to also enjoy!

WHO MAINTAINS THE PARK?

Our park is currently maintained by volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers! Opportunities for volunteering include but are not limited to: mowing the grass, raking the beach, removing water weeds from the beach area, adding sand to the beach, pulling weeds, leaf removal, planting and maintaining flowering plants, replacing boards in benches and the dock, etc.

IS THERE A BATHROOM FACILITY?

Currently there is no bathroom facility or porta potty at the park. The budget this year did not allow for the rental of a porta potty. We hope to return this amenity in the future.

ARE THERE COMMUNITY EVENTS AT THE PARK?

Check back for updates regarding future community events for GLSA members at our park!
